SatGisPlan 2025 at the Space Technology Park
The third edition of the SatGisPlan event, organised by the University of Zielona Góra, took place at the Space Technology Park – Research, Development and Innovation. The primary aim of the event was to present the results of the final-year projects by graduates of the Geoinformatics and Satellite Technology programme at the Faculty of Engineering and Technical Sciences, University of Zielona Góra. This year’s format was expanded to include an international conference entitled ‘Innovations for Sustainable Development’, which gave the event even greater momentum.
Modern technologies and sustainable development
During the conference, innovative ideas and the expertise of graduates from the Geoinformatics and Satellite Technology programme were showcased. Their final-year projects covered, amongst other things, geoinformatics techniques and artificial intelligence in the context of sustainable development. As emphasised by Dr Anna Bazan-Krzywoszańska, Professor at the University of Zielona Góra and Chair of the SatGisPlan Scientific Committee, the main aim of the event is to promote geoinformatics as a field with enormous potential, particularly amongst local government bodies, research institutions and businesses.
Guests and speakers
The event was attended by representatives of the University of Zielona Góra, including the university’s rector, Prof. Wojciech Strzyżewski, PhD, as well as the vice-rectors and the chancellor. The Marshal’s Office of the Lubuskie Voivodeship was represented by Dr Sebastian Saniuk, Eng., Prof. at the University of Zielona Góra, Director of the Department of Economy and Development at the Marshal’s Office of the Lubuskie Voivodeship. The City of Zielona Góra was represented by Dr Jarosław Flakowski, Deputy Mayor. Among the guests was also the Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Professor Maria Mrówczyńska, PhD, Eng., who emphasised the importance of technical disciplines, such as geoinformatics, both for the country’s development and in the context of contemporary geopolitical challenges.
Expert panels and exchange of experiences
This year’s edition of SatGisPlan brought together representatives from public administration, socio-economic institutions, the academic community, as well as secondary school teachers and pupils. During numerous expert panels, 25 presentations were given on the application of modern technologies, including the role of geoinformation in the economy. The event also provided an opportunity to showcase the offerings of partner academic institutions and research and development centres.
Future prospects
The Space Technology Park was proud to host the conference participants, supporting the exchange of experiences and promoting the application of advanced technologies in sustainable development. We believe that cooperation with the University of Zielona Góra and other academic and business partners will contribute to the further development of our region and strengthen the Lubuskie Voivodeship’s position as a leader in innovation.
