Collaboration for innovation: the Space Technology Park and the University of Zielona Góra

Since the very beginning of our operations, the Space Technology Park has maintained a fruitful collaboration with the University of Zielona Góra, and in particular with the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering, headed by Dr Anna Bazan-Krzywoszańska, Professor at the University of Zielona Góra. Our joint activities focus on mutual support for initiatives aimed at scientific and technological development.

This year, we plan to submit funding applications for a wide range of projects, including the development of photogrammetric technologies, the modelling of three-dimensional spaces using aerial and ground-based scanning, and the use of satellite imagery for research purposes. Furthermore, we intend to launch projects related to energy and environmental management in urban areas and in industry. These activities form part of our efforts to establish a centre of excellence and project management within the Horizon Europe programme.

In February, a unique event took place at our Park – the SatGisPlan 2024 conference. This was the second meeting of its kind, bringing together enthusiasts, researchers and students from the fields of geoinformatics and satellite technology. The conference provided an opportunity to present the results of degree projects carried out by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering at the University of Zielona Góra, as well as those undertaken in collaboration with other faculties and businesses. This event confirmed the importance of exchanging knowledge and experience in the field of modern GIS technologies, opening up new prospects for the development of science and technology.

Since February, students from the Faculty have also had the opportunity to undertake work placements at our Park, which is an excellent chance to gain practical knowledge and experience.

We are extremely pleased with our collaboration with the University of Zielona Góra. We believe this lays the foundation for a long-term partnership that will benefit both parties and contribute to the development of science and technology.
